The No. 23 ranked Emory men's cross country team traveled to Attleboro, Massachusetts for the UAA Championship Meet on Saturday morning. The Eagles posted three top-20 finishers on their way to finishing fourth at the event with 107 points. #8 NYU was the UAA Champion, with four top-10 finishers and 34 points. Rounding out the top three teams was #16 Carnegie Mellon at 50 points and #19 WashU at 72 points. The race was held at Highland Park and was run at the 8k distance.
Once again it was graduate student
Spencer Watry who finished in front for Emory, being the 15
th runner to cross the finish line with a time of 24:59.1. Graduate student
Scott Masterson was close behind, clocking in at 25:01.2 in 18
th place. Sophomore
Kirin Karver rounded out the top-20 performances with a 20
th place finish and crossing the finish line at 25:02.8.
Graduate student
Tristan Olpin was the next Eagle to finish, coming in 25
th with a time of 25:20.1. Senior
Marcus Cheema completed the scoring for Emory with a 29
th place finish at 25:29.1.
Rounding out the performances for Emory were sophomores
John Urciuoli in 31
st with a time of 25:30.8 and
Olin Gilster in 32
nd with a time of 25:36.8 followed by a trio of freshmen with
Dalton Lowery in 38
th with a time of 25:44.9,
Ryan Van de Berghe in 49
th with a time of 25:57.6, and
Parker Carrus in 60
th with a time of 26:11.8.
The Eagles will take the next week off before competing at the NCAA South Region Championship. The event will be held at the Choctaw Running Trails in Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday, November 16
th.
