The Emory University bullpen pitched five and two thirds scoreless innings, and a key wild pitch with two outs in the seventh set up a two-run inning for the Eagles, lifting Emory to an 8-6 victory at Oglethorpe University.

With the game deadlocked at six runs apiece in the seventh, and with Gabe Shivers on third base with two outs, Andrew DeYoung struck out on a ball in the dirt and took off for first base.  Shivers started down the third base line, drawing the attention of the Stormy Petrels' catcher long enough to allow DeYoung to reach safely, and then broke for home on the throw to first to score the deciding run in the game.  Emory would add on a run after DeYoung stole second base, and Kevin O'Connor picked up an RBI double.

Emory senior Brian Cournoyer pitched three and two thirds innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two, en route to earning the victory.  Cournoyer improved to 3-3 on the season, while lowering his season ERA to a team-best 2.04.  Senior Will Gumm would close out the game with two scoreless innings to earn his second save of the campaign.

O'Connor picked up two RBIs during the game, while junior third baseman Andrew Cohn added on two RBIs of his own with a two-for-four performance.  Ryan Jones and Dan Molnar also drove in runs for the Eagles during the game.  DeYoung finished the day two-for-five with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

The Eagles improved to 16-18 on the season with the win, while Oglethorpe dropped to 19-17 with the loss.  The victory was Emory's first over Oglethorpe in three tries this season.

Emory will continue its road swing this weekend, heading to Huntingdon College for games on Saturday and Sunday.
