Two student-athletes from the Emory men's soccer team claimed the first University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors for the 2025-26 season as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Josh Grand was named the Sonny Carter Invitational MVP after leading the Eagles to a 2-0 tournament record at home against #4 Washington & Lee and Covenant. Grand collected assists on both game-winning goals as Emory won both matches by one goal. On Friday, the Eagles scored with 3:35 remaining in regulation to knock off the highly-ranked Generals before scoring twice midway through the second half on Saturday to erase a 1-0 deficit to upend the Scots in the de-facto tournament championship game.
Junior Logan Steren was one of five Eagles to be named the Sonny Carter Invitational All-Tournament Team as he led the Eagles to a tournament title this past weekend. Steren played 90 minutes in back-to-back matches, aiding in the shutout efforts in Emory's 1-0 win over #4 Washington & Lee while also providing the game-winning goal with 3:35 minutes left in the game before he and the Eagles' backline held Covenant to six shots on Saturday, including two on frame, as Emory rallied for a 2-1 win in the tournament championship game.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday as they battle NC Wesleyan at 5:00 PM on the opening day of the John P. Salamone Invitational on the campus of Oglethorpe University.
