The Emory University women's tennis team capped off its weekend of hosting duties of the ITA South Regional by crowning doubles and singles champions on the final day of competition in Atlanta.
Day three of the regional saw doubles teams of Emily Kantrovitz and Iris Berman pitted against Izzy Antanavicius and Erika Olson in the championship final. Kantrovitz and Berman secured the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set decision to give the Eagles their first regional doubles champions since 2021.
Four Eagles returned to the court in the afternoon for the semifinals of the singles competition with top-seeded Kantrovitz playing Olson while second-seeded Antanavicius opposed Rachel Hernandez. The higher-seeded Eagles both came out on top in straight set fashion with Kantrovitz posting a 6-2, 6-3 line while Antanavicius earned a 6-0, 6-4 result.
The wins set up a rematch of the 2024 South Regional title bout, only this time Antanavicius came through with the win to prevent Kantrovitz from winning her third consecutive regional crown.
The championship match proved to be a hard-fought battle between teammates with the contest lasting over two hours. Antanavicius outlasted Kantrovitz though, pulling through with the 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 decision.
Emory's winners from Sunday automatically qualify for October's ITA Cup which will be held the 16th through the 19th at the Rome Tennis Center in Mount Berry, Georgia.
