Emory Men's Golf finished its second round of play at the NCAA Fall Preview tournament Monday afternoon, holding onto their second-place spot from day one with a 289 on the day and 571 overall after two rounds of play.
Oglethorpe sits in first at the end of day two, shooting a 285 on the round and 569 total. Rounding out the top three is a tie for third between Carnegie Mellon and Methodist, who shot 291 and 292 on the day respectively bringing both teams to 578 at the end of the two rounds. The event is being held at Mission Inn Resort in Howie in the Hills, FL.
Kevin Mu remains at the top of the scorecard for the Eagles, shooting a 70 and moving up three spots on the leaderboard to cap off another consistent round for the junior. He made par on each hole of the front nine apart from two birdies on the fifth and seventh holes and maintained that consistency on the back nine, only shooting one bogey and one birdie.
Close behind is grad transfer
Pearse Lucas who moved up seven spots on the leaderboard to sit in fifth place at the end of day two. Lucas shot a 71 on the day after a rocky front nine, shooting two bogeys, a birdie and a double bogey, but turned things around on the back nine making par on each hole apart from three birdies to help him soar up the leaderboard.
Following them was junior
Brady Lagendyk who held down his spot in 12
th place with a 73 to conclude the second round. Like Lucas, he had a turbulent front nine performance, shooting a birdie, double bogey and bogey after nine holes, but turned it around to make par on each of the back nine holes apart from a birdie on 17.
Up next on the scorecard was senior
Brian Hanson, who shot 75 on the day to bring him down four spots to 53
rd. Hanson hit a bogey on four of the front nine holes and another on the back nine, rounding things out with two birdies on the 14
th and 15
th holes.
Rounding things out on the scorecard for the Eagles is sophomore
Zach Pelzar, falling 15 spots on the leaderboard after shooting a 78 in the second round. Similar to Hanson, he shot for bogey on five of the front nine holes but turned things around to shoot only two bogeys on the back nine and made par on the rest.
Tournament play will conclude tomorrow, with Pelzar leading the squad with the first tee time at 9:50 a.m.
