The Emory University men's golf team concluded the third round of the NCAA Championships on Thursday as the team shot a seven-over 295 as the tournament shifted back to El Campeon course at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Eagles slipped to ninth place following the third round as they stand at an 871 (+11) at the conclusion of Thursday afternoon. Illinois Wesleyan continues to lead the field as the Titans lead the field at five-under 855 followed by Washington & Lee at an even 860 and Kenyon at 861.
Junior Kevin Mu turned in the best round by an Emory golfer this week during the third round as he fired a three-under 69 to jump into a tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard. Mu started his day with an eagle on hole one then proceeded to three birdies and 12 pars over the remainder of his round.
Graduate student Pearse Lucas also made a charge up the leaderboard following his one-over 73 that featured four birdies and 10 pars. He'll enter the final round in a tie for 55th.
Senior Brian Hanson was behind Lucas on the scorecard as he recorded a two-over 74 and now stands tied for 36th at four-over during the week. On Thursday, Hanson had one birdie and a team-high 14 pars.
Junior Brady Lagendyk and freshman Dru Devata added scores of 79 and 81 for the Eagles on Thursday. Lagendyk had a pair of birdies and 10 pars while Devata notched two birdies as well to go along with nine pars. Entering the fourth round, Devata stands tied for 72nd individually with Lagendyk sitting tied for 78th.
The final round of the NCAA Championships looks to get underway at 8:00 AM.
