The Emory University women's tennis team concluded its weekend in Rome, Georgia on Saturday as the Eagles went 1-2 across their final three matches of competition.
The doubles tandem of senior Izzy Antanavicius and freshman Erika Olson collected Emory's lone win of the day, earning a thrilling three-set win over Trinity (TX)'s Trinity Levy/Rosabella Andrade in the consolation round. The Eagles and Tigers split the first two sets with Emory winning 6-3 to open before Trinity responded with a 6-3 win of its own in the second. In the third set super tiebreaker, it took 32 games to decide a winner as Antanavicius/Olson battled out the 17-15 win.
In the main draw, the Eagles' duo of seniors Iris Berman and Emily Kantrovitz saw their run end in the semifinals as they fell in straight sets to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps pairing of Lindsay Eisenman/Rebecca Kong 5-7, 2-6.
Earlier in the morning, Antanavicius played her final match in singles at the Rome Tennis Center as she faced MIT's Fiona Lee. Antanavicius won the first set of the match, 7-5, but Lee rallied to close out play 6-4, 6-1.
The Eagles will start their winter hiatus this week and will return to the courts in February to start the spring season.
