Nikki Boon Finishes as National Runner-Up in Heptathlon to Highlight Day Two of NCAA Championships

The NCAA Outdoor Championships continued Friday evening for the Emory University track & field teams as the Eagles secured another All-America finish in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Highlighting the Eagles in competition was graduate student Nikki Boon who became the third podium finisher in the Heptathlon in women's track & field history. Boon was the national runner-up with a school record 5,251 points following the final three events on Friday. She matches Theresa Ford who was the national runner-up at the 2013 NCAA Championships for the best finish in the event in team history. On Friday, Boon finished second in the javelin (37.92m), third in the 800m (2:24.40) and was sixth in the long jump (5.45m). Her two-day score puts sixth all-time in Division III history.

In addition to Boon four members took to the track in prelims of their respective events.

In the 400m Dash, junior Dashiel Tao Harris placed 16th with time of 57.03 while classmate Audrey Johnson just missed the cut for the 100m finals as she finished ninth with a time of 11.83. In the 800m Run, seniors Spencer Watry and Dawit Dean represented the Eagles with Watry taking 15th at 1:52.75 and Dean placing 18th at 1:53.61. For their efforts, Johnson, Harris and Watry each earned Second Team All-America acclaim.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships conclude on Saturday with the final events for the Eagles. Senior Kenya Sei will take part in the hammer throw beginning at 3:45 PM while Boon, Johnson and Harris will be joined by junior Kaya Binetti in the finals of the 4x100m relay at 4:05 PM.
