Women's Track and Field Earns Three All-UAA Selections During Day 1 of the UAA Indoor Championship

The Emory women's track and field team had a great first day at the UAA Indoor Championship, earning three All-UAA Selections on the day including one championship win.

The Eagles earned 32 points on the day and are in third place heading into day two, trailing behind Chicago with 49 points and current leader WashU who put up 50 points on the first day of the championship.

Sophomore Anna Jennings got the Eagles sole UAA Championship of the day in the long jump with her 5.64m mark, putting up the new 25th best mark in Division III. Juniors Dijaye Carpenter and Elsa Bildtsen also claimed spots in the top ten, putting up 5.25m and 5.15m jumps respectively.

In the weight throw, rookie Caroline Henry took second place with a 15.84m throw to earn her first All-UAA selection in the blue and gold. Sophomores Abigail Roberts also placed in the top ten with a 13.79m effort.

Sophomore Erin Makhanian held it down for the Eagles in the pole vault, earning a 3.66m mark to earn third place and All-UAA honors.

In the 5000m, Emory's top finisher was sophomore Davis Johnson who took 11th place with a 17:51.09 effort.

The finals finished off with the 4000m distance medley relay where the Emory women took fourth place with a finishing time of 11:57.08 to claim fourth place.

Starting off track prelims was the 60mH where Kelsey Coley put on a show, running an 8.96 to lead the field and automatically qualify for finals. Rookies Campbell Fennell and Megan Taylor also qualified, running a 9.34 and 9.38 in their heats.

In the 400m prelim, the sophomore duo of Aaliyah Jalloh and Amaya Grant qualified for finals, with Jalloh running a 57.82 and Grant putting up a 58.92 second effort.

The 60m saw two Eagles qualify for tomorrow's final as Jennings ran a 7.98 and freshman Laura Jablonover crossed the finish at the 8.01 mark.

Finishing the day off with the 200m, Jablonover led the Eagles with a qualifying time of 25.55 seconds. Taylor also qualified, running a 25.03 to solidify her spot in the final.

Day two of the UAA Indoor Championship will begin at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.
