Former Emory University track and field standout Nikki Boon finished third at the 2026 Women's Decathlon World Championships Sunday at Oberlin College.

Competing for the Netherlands, Boon finished with 7,714 points across the 10-event competition, earning a bronze medal after entering the final day in sixth place with 4,021 points.

Boon opened Sunday's competition with a time of 14.34 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, earning 931 points. She followed with a discus throw of 39.54 meters for 645 points.

In the pole vault, Boon cleared 3.50 meters to earn 761 points before recording a mark of 35.73 meters in the javelin for 586 points. She closed the competition with a time of 5:08.74 in the 1,500-meter run, earning 770 points.

Boon's five Day 2 events totaled 3,693 points, moving her from sixth to third overall. Her final score of 7,714 points placed her behind champion Camryn Newton-Smith of Australia, who finished with 7,900 points, and runner-up Noemie Desailly of France, who totaled 7,805 points.

The third-place finish comes one year after Boon captured the Women's Decathlon World Championship in 2025. She entered this year's competition looking to defend her title and become just the fourth woman to surpass 8,000 points in the event.

Boon's performance adds another international medal to an accomplished career that included two NCAA Division III national championships and six All-America honors during her time at Emory. She also holds Emory program records in the heptathlon, pentathlon, long jump and 60-meter hurdles.
