Women's Track and Field Finishes Third at UAA Outdoor Championships

The Emory University women's track and field program took home third place at the 2024 UAA Outdoor Championships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The women took second place with 124 points while WashU took home the title with 249.5 points. Four individuals took home All-UAA status with their top-three finishes while the 4x100 relay group set the new UAA meet record.

Graduate Student Nikki Boon continued her dominate weekend breaking the program record in the discus throw with a distance of 43.24m to finish second in the event. She also competed in the javelin throw, taking fifth (37.66m) alongside freshman Mable Mutumwa who finished fourth with a distance of 38.35m. Junior Sarah Fineman rounded out the field events with a fifth place finish in the discus (40.64m).

Junior Dashiel Tao Harris also earned All-UAA honors taking second in the 400m running a 56.34 followed by a first place run from junior Audrey Johnson in the 100m with a time of 12.00 seconds and the 200m with a mark of 24.78 seconds.

The 4x100 relay group of Boon, Harris, Johnson and junior Kaya Binetti started the day with a first place finish with a time of 46.26 to set the new UAA meet record. Boon, Harris and Johnson later ran with junior Mina Leopold in the 4x400 relay taking second with a mark of 3:53.62.

Others scoring points for the Eagles was junior Madison Tiaffay in the 1500m (4:36.18, 5th), Boon (15.43, 6th) and senior Amaya Martin (15.43, 7th) in the 100m hurdles, Leopold in the 400m (58.24, 6th), junior Maura Dianno (12.74, 8th) in the 100m, senior Lily Taylor (2:17.95, 6th) and Tiaffay (2:18.41, 7th) in the 800m, Binetti in the 100m (12.34, 6th) and 200m (25.45, 5th) and junior Caroline Hansen in the 400m hurdles (1:07.36, 7th)

Junior Liesl Scherrer ended the day on the track for the Eagles taking seventh in the 5000m with a time of 17:44.96.

The Eagles will travel to the Lee Last Chance meet on Saturday, May 11 before turning their attention to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 23 at Coastal Carolina.
