The Emory University Women's Tennis program saw three Eagles compete on the first day of the annual ITA Cup in Mount Berry, Georgia.
Junior
Emily Kantrovitz earned her spot in singles after winning the ITA South Regional Singles title while she and her doubles partner
Dakota Fordham claimed their spot following a second place finish at the South Regional. Junior
Izzy Antanavicius also competed on the first day after finishing as the runner-up in singles at the South Regional.
Kantrovitz started the day as the No. 2 seed in singles facing Xingchen Liu from Carthage College. She took her match with a straight-set, 6-1, 6-1 decision and will compete against Ancele Dolensek from Carnegie Mellon on Friday morning.
Antanavicius followed with a huge win against the No. 1 seeded Angie Zhou from Pomona Pitzer taking her match with a 6-2, 6-4 straight set line. She will also compete again on Friday morning at 11:00 AM against Erica Ekstrand of Chicago.
Kantrovitz and Fordham teamed up to finish the day competing against Konika Dhull and Grace Truong Skidmore college in doubles competition which was scored in singles fashion. The duo took a victory in the first round of competition with a 6-0, 6-3 line to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Eagles will be back in action on the courts on Friday with singles competition beginning at 11:00 AM and doubles starting at 4:30 PM.
