The Emory University women's tennis program returned to the win column on Wednesday evening defeating the second-ranked NAIA program Georgia Gwinnett College 6-3. With the victory, the Eagles improved to 4-1 while GGC slipped to 1-1.
Emory received wins from five of the six singles positions in the match. Junior Michelle Satterfield won the no.2 singles 7-5, 6-2 and freshman Taylor Cosme easily dispatched her opponent 6-1, 6-1. At the no.4 singles position, senior Beatrice Rosen earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory and freshman Daniela Lopez picked up a 6-2, 6-3 decision for the no.5 singles point. Senior captain Madison Gordon rounded out singles play, winning the no.6 point 6-3. 6-1.
The Eagles claimed one of the three doubles points as Satterfield and Lopez combined to win the no.3 doubles point 8-4.
Emory is back in action on Saturday with a pair of matches. The Eagles will play Berry College at 11:00 AM before squaring off against another NAIA school in Brenau College at 2:00 PM.
