Emory Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Win Over Dalton State College

The Emory men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule on a successful note, registering a Saturday afternoon triumph over NAIA member Dalton State College.  The Eagles played their way to a 6-3 decision over the Roadrunners, who saw their dual mark slip to 3-2.

Emory came away with two of the three doubles points with the No. 1 tandem of sophomore Scott Rubinstein and freshman James Spaulding posting an 8-4 decision over DSC's Nikolay Nikiforov and Sebastian Dartnell.  At No. 2, senior Rafe Mosetick and freshman Jonathan Jemison notched an 8-4 verdict over Adam Hornby and Jose Ruda.

The top half Emory's singles lineup came through with solid efforts, headed by Mosetick's victory at No. 1 over Ruda, 6-0, 6-2.  Jemison battled his way to a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (11-9) outcome at No. 2 while junior Aman Manji won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, against Nikiforov at the No. 3 slot.  Junior Josh Goodman captured the other point at No. 6, rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph vs. Dartnell.

Emory returns to action on Sunday (Feb. 14) when it plays host to Georgia Gwinnett College, the No. 1-ranked NAIA squad in the nation, at 11:00 am, followed by a 6:00 pm clash against NCAA Division I foe Georgia State University at 6:00 pm.
