Emory Baseball Slugs its Way to a 22-6 Win over Sewanee

The Emory University baseball team vented its recent frustrations on the University of the South squad on Wednesday, as the Eagles defeated the Tigers 22-6 in Sewanee, TN.

Among the highlights from the contest were the team-leading fourth home run of the season for Patrick Riebsame, the third home run of the season for both Dan Molnar and Andrew Cohn, and the first collegiate home run for Jay Page.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning off a two-out, three-run home run for Molnar, scoring Riebsame and Jonathan Reilly.  Emory would build the lead to 5-0 in the second inning with a two-out single for Reilly.

Sewanee scored four runs in the bottom of the third to make it a one-run game, but the Eagles would score four more in the top of the fourth to take a 9-4 lead.  Emory added two in the sixth, and then broke the game open with nine in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Reilly finished the day four-for-five with six RBIs, while Cohn went three-for-three with three RBIs.

Emory's Adam Genn got the start and earned the victory, improving to 2-1 on the year.  Chris Monaco and Zeb Heidt each pitched in relief for Emory as well.

Emory improved to 11-10 on the season with the win, while Sewanee dropped to 6-13.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday, hosting a doubleheader against Edgewood College at Chappell Park, starting at 1:00 PM
