The Emory University baseball team continued its power surge Sunday afternoon as the Eagles smacked four home runs as a team en route to a 16-11 win over New York University in the series finale at the Naimoli Complex in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Four different Eagles went yard in the win with the slugfest highlighted by juniors Jake Lawson and Zach Hanson who put forth four-hit outings including round trippers. The duo combined to drive in eight of the team's 16 runs on the afternoon. 

Emory had the offense clicking in the early stages as the bats powered their way to a 9-3 lead midway through the third. A six-run second inning headlined by a grand slam off the stick of Hanson gave the Eagles the early 6-0 lead. NYU answered with three runs in its second frame but a three-run blast from Lawson an inning later saw Emory increase its lead back to six.

The Violets used a power binge of their own over the next three innings as four different NYU players left the yard to even the score 9-9 through five full innings in New Jersey.

After the Violets brought the score level, freshman Dalton Needle continued his torrid weekend with a bases-clearing double in the sixth to put the Eagles ahead for good. The lead grew to 15-9 with another three-run frame in the eighth that including a two-run home run from senior Zach Wasserlauf. 

NYU got two runs back in the bottom of the eighth but another four-bagger in the ninth, this one from freshman Connor Tam, provided the final 16-11 margin.

The Eagles will look to continue the UAA momentum next weeked as a four-game series against Case Western Reserve gets underway from Chappell Park in Atlanta at 3:00 PM Friday afternoon.
