The Emory men's golf team began play at the Tiger Invitational on Monday, shooting a team total 577 (+1) over two rounds to land in fourth place going into day two.
Methodist currently leads the pack with a team score of 567 (-9) while Huntingdon and Carnegie Mellon round out the top three with respective team scores of 570 (-6) and 574 (-2).
Junior
Kevin Mu had a fantastic first day, shooting a 137 (-7) sit at the top of the individual leaderboard. He had a really consistent round, shooting nine birdies and only two bogeys across 36 holes to claim his top spot.
Behind him is
Pearse Lucas who is in 18
th after recording a 144 (E) on the day. The grad transfer had a solid first round, shooting three birdies and three bogeys across the first 18 holes. He had a more chaotic second round, shooting two birdies, back-to-back double bogeys and a bogey on the front nine. He cleaned things up on the back nine in round two, shooting two birdies, a bogey and an eagle on 13.
Three strokes behind Lucas is junior
Brady Lagendyk, who shot a 147 (+3) to end the day in 38
th place. He had a turbulent first round, shooting four birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey on the round but ended with a bang as he shot an Eagle on 18 to end the round. He had a calm front nine in the second round as he only shot one birdie but ended the round shooting four bogeys in a row on the back nine to conclude the first day of the tournament.
 Following Lagendyk on the leaderboard is senior
Brian Hanson who put up a 150 (+6) to end round one in 56
th place. He shot four bogeys, two birdies and a double bogey in round one but improved by two strokes in round two as he recorded five bogeys and three birdies.
Rounding things out at the Tiger Invitational was freshman
Zach Pelzar who shot a 158 (+14) on day one to finish in 92
nd. He started the front nine of round one on a rough note as he shot three bogeys and a double bogey, but turned it around on the back nine as he shot four birdies and a double bogey. In his second round, the rookie had a birdie-less showing as he put in five bogeys and three double bogeys on the round.
Three Eagles also competed as individuals at the Hampden-Sydney invitational in Firefox Village, with
Tim Richter leading the trio as he shot a 74 (+2) on day one. The sophomore had a wild first round, shooting five birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey during round one to end the day in 19
th.
Behind him by three shots was freshman
Dru Devata, who like his teammate shot five birdies on the day along with six bogeys and two double bogeys to land in 40
th with a 77 (+5).
Rounding things out at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational was senior
Parker Shimp, who ended the day in 94
th place. Shimp shot a birdie-less round with five bogeys and three double bogeys across the round to shoot an 84 (+12).
The Eagles will be back on the course tomorrow for rounds 2 and 3 of the Hampden-Sydney and Tiger Invitationals.
