The No. 5 ranked Emory University women's tennis team picked up another 7-0 victory at home Monday afternoon as the Eagles downed Colby College in Atlanta.
The Eagles were in complete control during the win as Emory dropped just three games in doubles action before winning all six singles matches to finish out the shutout.
For the doubles sweep, the Eagles recorded convincing wins on three courts with seniors Emily Kantrovitz/Iris Berman posting a 6-2 result on the top line followed by a 6-0 blanking by senior Izzy Antanavicius and junior Yanire Marte at the No. 2 spot. Sophomore Daniela Livson and freshman Holyn Karp added a 6-1 decision at third position to close out the sweep.
Singles play saw the Eagles turn in straight set wins on five of the six courts. Kantrovitz, Marte and freshman Audrey Pogue all dropped just three games combined in their wins with Kantrovitz winning 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, Marte registering a 6-1, 6-2 verdict on court three and Pogue going for a 6-0, 6-3 decision at the No. 6 spot.
Sophomore Rachel Hernandez came away with a 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 singles in her afternoon appearance and at No. 5, Karp won 7-6 (5), 6-2. Antananvicius dropped her first set in her match on court two but regrouped for the 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to close out the 7-0 win.
The Eagles will head to Pittsburgh this weekend for matchups against No. 11 Carnegie Mellon and No. 10 Bowdoin College at Carnegie Mellon.
