The Emory men's golf team had an incredible final day at the Tiger Invitational, tying with Sewanee to take third place with a team score of 866 (+2). Junior
Kevin Mu also won the individual title, shooting a 206 (-10) to win by five strokes.
Huntingdon came in second with an 857 while Methodist took the team title with a final score of 851 to end the tournament.
Mu had a fantastic final round in Pinehurst, shooting a 69 in his third round to match his second-round score from yesterday. The third year shot six birdies and three bogeys on the day to earn his first individual title of the season.
Behind him was grad transfer
Pearse Lucas who shot a 73 on day two to place 19
th overall. He shot four bogeys and three birdies on the day to earn a final score of 217.
Brady Lagendyk was next on the leaderboard, shooting 219 on the tournament after improving by one shot from his round two score. The junior shot three bogeys in a row on the front nine, but cleaned it up on the back nine with three birdies and a bogey to shoot a 72 (E) and come in 30
th place.
Senior
Brian Hanson was behind him, shooting a 75 on day two to place 54
th. He shot four bogeys, three birdies and a double bogey on the round to put up a 225 over three rounds.
Rounding things out on the individual leaderboard for the Eagles was
Zach Pelzar who shot a 76 to improve by seven shots from his 83 in round two. The sophomore shot six bogeys and two birdies in his third round.
At the Hampden-Sydney Invitational,
Tim Richter led the individual Eagles, improving two shots from his first-round score to shoot a 146 and place 13
th. Richter shot four bogeys and four birdies on the day to put up a 72 in the second round.
Freshman
Dru Devata was next on the leaderboard, coming in 25
th with a 149 on the tournament. Like Richter, Devata shot four birdies and four bogeys to also shoot a 72, improving his score by five shots from the first round.
Finishing things off at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational was
Parker Shimp who shot a 161 over the two days to sit in 79
th place. The senior improved by seven shots from day one to day two, starting rough with a double bogey but recovering to shoot four bogeys and a birdie in his final round of the tournament.
The Eagles will be back on the course next weekend as they compete in the Jekyll Island Invitational March 20-22.
