The No. 8 ranked Emory University men's tennis team opened its spring break trip to Florida Tuesday afternoon by falling to Northwood University, 5-2, in Orlando.
The Eagles started the day strong with a doubles sweep and dropping just five games across the three matches. Sophomore Ajay Kartik and freshman Matthew Johnstone blanked their opponents, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot while sophomore Ruilin Feng and freshman Stefan Karatosic picked up a 6-2 decision on court two. Senior John Lasanajak and freshman Daniel Kim rounded out the doubles scoring with a 6-3 triumph at the No. 3 spot.
Despite the dominant start from the Eagles, Northwood flipped the script in singles as the Timberwolves took five of the six matches to claim the match.
Karatosic was the lone Eagle to notch a win in singles play with his 7-6 (2), 6-1 decision at the No. 5 position.
Emory continues its spring break trip in Florida on Wednesday with match against another Division II foe in Keiser University at 2:00 PM.
