The No. 3 ranked Emory women's tennis team swept Sewanee in their consolation match at the ITA Indoor National Championship Saturday afternoon, blanking the Tigers 7-0 to advance to the fifth-place match on Sunday.
In doubles, seniors
Iris Berman and
Emily Kantrovitz got the 6-4 decision on court one while freshman
Holyn Karp and sophomore
Rachel Hernandez dominated Sewanee's Lee and Davis in a 6-0 win at the second position. Finishing off doubles at the third position was sophomore
Daniela Livson and rookie
Audrey Pogue, earning a 6-2 decision on court three to sweep the doubles points.
Starting off singles, Karp got the 6-0, 6-3 decision on court three while her doubles partner Hernandez got the 6-0, 6-0 win on court four. On court five, Pogue delivered a pair of 6-2 decisions and freshman
Jessy Chen secured the 6-4, 6-0 win at the sixth position.
The final two matches concluded with third set tiebreakers. Kantrovitz on court one 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 line on court one and Berman on court two, 6-7 (4), 6-2. 10-8.
The Eagles will conclude their weekend in Nashville Sunday morning by taking on No. 6 Wesleyan University in the fifth-place match starting at 9:00 a.m. ET.
