The No. 6 ranked Emory men's tennis team delivered a strong win as they took down the Young Harris Mountain Lions 6-1 in their spring debut.
The Eagles started off solid as the pairings of
Ruilin Feng/
Matthew Johnstone and
Dean Kamenev/Ajay Kartik delivered a pair of 7-6 wins with Feng and Johnstone winning their tiebreaker 7-3 to clinch the doubles point for the Eagles. The duo of
Alec Anghel/
Daniel Kim delivered one of the Eagles' two losses of the day with a 2-6 score.
In singles competition, Feng swept his opponent, going 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 position. Kamenev followed in the No. 2 position, dropping his match 4-6, 3-6. At the No. 3 position, junior
Ryan Nash provided a two-set win 7-6 (3), 6-3. At No. 4 position, Kim swept his opponent with a 6-1, 6-2 decision and at the No. 5 spot, Johnstone by winning his match 6-2, 6-3. Kartik rounded things out for the Eagles, taking his match 6-1, 6-3 to end the day and help the Eagles earn their first win of the spring season.
The Eagles will be back on home court tomorrow as they take on Tennessee Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
