The Emory University women's swimming and diving team captured three event titles and put forth eight All-UAA finishes on Friday as the University Athletic Association Championships continued in Chicago.
Junior Katie Cohen and senior Penny Celtnieks highlighted night three for the Eagles as they secured the team's second and third individual events titles of the meet. Cohen won her second straight conference title in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:02.03 and in the 100 Backstroke, Celtnieks won her first-ever conference title as she touched at 54.58.
Cohen and Celtnieks synced up with sophomore Allison Greeneway and senior Ava Kennedy for the team's final win of the evening as they combined for a time of 1:40.99 to win the 200 Medley Relay, giving the Eagles their first relay crown of the week.
With the three wins, the Eagles still find themselves in a dogfight for the UAA team championship as Emory's 27-year title run will be put to the ultimate test on Saturday. Through three days of competition, New York University leads the field with 1,278 points while the Eagles are right on their heels with 1,254 points. Host Chicago stands third with 848.5 points.
In addition to the three event championships, Emory saw All-UAA finishers come from senior Meredith Liu (2nd, 4:23.67) and freshman Grace Scharper (3rd, 4:23.89) in the 400 IM, junior Emma Lunn in the 200 Freestyle (3rd, 1:50.88) and graduate student Sammi Thiele in the 100 Backstroke (3rd, 55.43).
The Eagles will look to overcome its 24-point deficit as the final day of competition kicks off a 11:00 AM ET on Saturday.
