The Emory University women's swimming & diving team put forth a solid second day of competition at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, recording five podium finishes as well as four Second Team All-America efforts.
The Eagles were headlined by a trio of divers who reached the finals of the 1-meter event on Thursday. Graduate student Ariana Khan led the three Emory performers on the board with her fourth place effort with a finals mark of 430.30. Sophomore Maya Kriz secured her first-ever All-America honor with a sixth place finish at 4:20.10 and senior Ren Watt notched eighth place with a score of 410.70.
In addition to the Emory divers, junior Natalie Boorjian led the Eagles in the swimming events as she made it to the podium in the 200 Freestyle with a seventh place finish with a time of 1:51.26 and in the 200 Freestyle Relay, the group of Ava Kennedy, Caitlin Crysel, Penny Celtnieks and Sammi Thiele came in sixth position with a combined time of 1:32.62.
Crysel and Thiele put forth a pair of 11th place efforts individually on Thursday with Crysel posting a time of 55.13 in the 100 Fly and Thiele going for 4:24.94 in the 400 IM. In the 200 Freestyle, juniors Katherine Swan and Emma Lunn went back-to-back in 13th and 14th positions with finals times of 1:50.74 and 1:50.88.
At the conclusion of night two, the Eagles remained second in the team race with 188.5 points with New York University in front at 260. Kenyon rounds out the top three with 176.5 points.
The NCAA Championships continue Friday morning with prelims getting started at 10:00 AM.
