After picking up a dual meet sweep against Centre this past Wednesday, the No. 2 ranked Emory University swimming & diving teams were back in the pool Saturday morning with their final dual meet of the 2025-26 season as the Eagles made the trek north on I-85 to Athens to battle the University of Georgia.
The Eagles picked up the speed against the Bulldogs as Emory collected 31 NCAA B Cut times as a unit across the meet. UGA earned the wins on the afternoon with the Georgia men defeated the Eagles, 191-112, and the UGA women bested Emory's group 190-106.
Emory saw two event wins during the men with both coming in men's events as senior Henri Bonnault posted a winning time of 54.28 in the 100 Breaststroke and freshman Carson Kalish notched a 1:48.83 to touch first in the 200 IM. Both Eagles' marks were two of the men's team's 10 NCAA B Cut times on the afternoon. Kalish and Bonnault added third place finishes elsewhere on Saturday with Kalish turning in a NCAA B cut of 1:48.77 in the 200 Fly and Bonnault going for 2:03.58 in the 200 Breast.
Individually, NCAA B Cuts were also recorded by junior McKee Thorsen in the 200 Fly (4th, 1:49.17), freshman Quinn Nelson (5th, 1:48.56) and sophomore Zachary Spicer (6th, 1:48.76) in the 200 Backstroke, graduate student Jared Zhang in the 100 Fly (3rd, 48.10).
The Eagles added a pair of NCAA qualifying times as well in the relay events with the group of Bonnault, Zhang, Colin Zexter and Patrick Horton placing second at 1:27.22 and in the 200 Freestyle Relay, Zhang, Horton, Connor McHugh and Hayden Tupper secured third at 1:20.79.
For the women, the Eagles had 21 NCAA B Cuts against the Bulldogs including 20 in individual events.
The backstroke events helped secure six of the NCAA marks for the Gold caps as in the 100 Backstroke freshman Holly Brundage (5th, 56.03), senior Penny Celtnieks (6th, 56.11) and freshman Emma Lunn (7th, 56.27) were the Eagles top finishers and in the 200, Lunn paced three Emory swimmers inside the top 5 as he took third with a time of 1:59.16 followed by Brundage (2:00.69) and senior Jane Sanderson (2:01.22).
Additional NCAA qualifying times came from juniors Natalie Boorjian (4th, 1:50.65) and Katherine Swan (5th, 1:51.69) in the 200 Free, junior Katie Cohen (3rd, 1:02.66) and sophomore Maddy Lu (4th, 1:03.58) in the 100 Breast, sophomore Elodie Mitchell (3rd, 2:00.68) and freshman Grace Scharper (4th, 2:03.51) in the 200 Fly, senior Ava Kennedy in the 50 Free (4th, 23.10) and senior Meredith Liu in the 400 IM (5th, 4:25.40).
Furthermore, multiple NCAA B Cuts were registered from graduate student Sammi Thiele in the 100 Free (4th, 51.04) and 200 IM (3rd, 2:04.29), sophomore Allison Greeneway in the 100 Fly (3rd, 55.01) and 200 IM (2nd, 2:01.10) as well as from Lu (4th, 2:18.28) and Cohen (5th, 2:18.94) once more in the 200 Breaststroke. The Emory women also saw the group of Celtnieks, Lu, Greeneway and Kennedy have the lone B cut in relay competition as they placed fourth in the 200 Medley Relay at 1:42.41.
The Eagles had their diving fleet in attendance in Athens as well on Saturday with graduate student Ariana Khan scoring 250.73 to lead the Eagles on the 1-meter and sophomore Maya Kriz recording 270.68 to finish second on the 3-meter. For the men, sophomore Solly Berkenwald had the team's top finish in the 1-meter, scoring 276.60 for a second place showing, and on the 3-meter freshman Thomas Stone added a second place effort with his score of 265.50.
The Eagles now turn their sights on more conference glory with the upcoming UAA Championships from February 11-14 in Chicago.
