Men's Golf Takes First Place at the NCAA Fall Preview Tournament

Kevin Mu scored the winning birdie and second overall with a 69 in the final round.

Emory Men's Golf took home first place at the NCAA Fall Preview tournament Tuesday afternoon, ending at 291 for the final round and 862 for the three-round total.

Junior Kevin Mu held down the top of the scorecard for the Eagles, securing a second-place finish in the individual standings with a 69 in the third round to bring his three-round total to 207. Mu had an award-winning third round performance, making par on each hole apart from two birdies on the front nine and another on the back. This was Mu's best round of the weekend and his birdie on 17 helped secure the first-place win for the Eagles.

Behind Mu was grad transfer Pearse Lucas who shot 74 in his final round and finishing in 16th overall. He shot three bogeys in a row on the front nine but bounced back to shoot only one bogey on the back nine and a birdie on the 15th hole.

Close behind him was junior Brady Lagendyk who also shot a 74 in his third round to put him in 21st place at the end of the final round. He started out shaky with four bogeys on the front nine but rallied to shoot three birdies and a bogey on the back nine.

Following him was senior Brian Hanson who tied his round one score and shot 74 in the third round to end the tournament. Hanson had a consistent front nine, shooting only one birdie on the first hole and making par on the rest, but had a rockier back nine with three bogeys to finish off his round.

Closing things out on the scorecard for the Eagles was sophomore Zach Pelzar who shot his best round of the weekend, ending the round at 74 to end the tournament at 14 over par. He started out rough with a double bogey on the opening hole but found his footing and shot two birdies and two bogeys the rest of the round.

The Eagles will be back on the course in two weeks for the Wabash Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, IN.
