Led by an experienced returning group, the Emory University men's golf team excelled once again during the 2024-25 season.
For the second consecutive season and 22nd time overall, the Eagles captured the University Athletic Association championship and at the end of the season, Emory rode the momentum of a strong final two rounds into a second straight third place finish at the NCAA Championships – tied for the best finish in program history.
Sophomore Kevin Mu was a focal point during the Eagles' surge up the leaderboard at the NCAA Championships. Mu was in the mix for the individual national championship across all four days in Rochester before he finished third to capture his first-ever PING All-America selection. His stellar play saw him set a program record for best four-round score as he carded a 282 over the tournament.
Mu was one of three Eagles to earn All-America acclaim at season's end with junior Brian Hanson making an appearance on the Second Team and senior Michael Burry drawing Honorable Mention status.
Hanson was instrumental in leading the Eagles to the UAA crown as he earned UAA tournament MVP honors. Additionally, Burry and Zach Pelzar joined Hanson on the All-Tournament team.
The win in Cincinnati was the first of three tournament wins for the Eagles during the season. Following the UAA championships, Hanson carried the team to a win at the Flower City Preview as he fired the second-best individual three-round score in team history. In addition, the Eagles as a team shot the second-best three-round team score ever at 833 (-31).
The Eagles added a couple more top five finishes as the season progressed before the team finished the regular season on a high note with a second place effort at the Capitol City Classic before winning their home tournament, the Discover Dekalb Invitational, in April. Hanson was the top Emory performer at Montgomery as he placed second overall before Mu captured the first medalist honors of the season in Conyers.
Four different Eagles claimed All-Region honors by the GCAA as well as All-UAA conference recognition. Furthermore, five Eagles scored Cobalt Golf/GCAA All-America Scholars nominations and Burry became the third men's golfer in school history to be named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators organization.
