The Emory University volleyball team was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT on Monday afternoon. This is the 16th consecutive season that the Eagles have earned the honor.
To garner Team Academic Award status, programs must maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year. More than 1,450 collegiate and high school programs were honored for 2024-25.
For the Eagles, they posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.63. In addition, several members were recognized as College Sport Communications Academic All-District selections (Deborah Hong, Kate LaRocco, Sophia Luo and Olivia Rabinowitz) while Lily Martin was chosen as an Emory 100 Senior Honorary.
Emory, coming off a 29-3 season in which they advanced to the national quarterfinals, will open the 2025 season at home on August 29 and 30 with the Jenny McDowell Invitational.
