Volleyball Concludes 2025 Season in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

The Emory University volleyball program saw its 2025 campaign come to a close on Friday afternoon after falling to the No. 1 ranked East Texas Baptist Tigers in Medford, Massachusetts.

The Eagles finish the season with a 20-8 record and marked the 29th consecutive season making the tournament, the second longest active streak behind Juniata. Emory was led this season by a number of offensive powerhouses and saw different underclassmen make waves throughout the course of the year. On Friday, the Eagles were led offensively by seniors Kaya Monrose, Kate LaRocco and Eliane Silberman who combined for 28 kills in the matchup with the Tigers.

After Emory opened the first set with a 2-1 advantage, ETBU answered with six straight points to reclaim a 7-2 lead. For the next few rallies, the Tigers would post two points for Emory's one and were able to pull away with a 10-point, 18-8 advantage towards the end of the first set. ETBU then took advantage of kills from Graycee Mosley and clinched the first set with a 25-13 score.

The Eagles found their footing in the second set opening with a 3-2 lead with kills from Silberman and junior Sophia Luo, but the Tigers went on a 10-4 run to claim a 12-7 advantage in the middle of the set. After ETBU held an 18-13 score, Emory scored the next six points to take their third lead of the day, 19-18, but the Tigers answered with a 12-3 run at the end of the set to clinch set two, 25-22.

Emory continued battling in the third set opening with an 8-4 lead highlighted by three straight kills from Monrose and a service ace from Silberman. The next points went to both sides of the net with the Eagles just hanging onto a 16-12 advantage in the middle of the third set. ETBU answered with kills of their own and eventually tied the set up at 19 apiece before taking a 23-20 lead. Emory then took advantage of back to back attack errors and tied the game at 23 apiece but the Tigers responded with two straight points to clinch the match.
