Men's Golf Finishes Third at NCAA Championships

The Emory University men's golf team concluded the NCAA Championships Friday afternoon as the field completed the final round at the Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York.

For the second consecutive season, the Eagles earned third place at the national championships after recording a four-day total of 1182 (+30). Emory's total across the four rounds is the fourth-lowest mark in program history while the third place team finish is tied for the best NCAA finish in team history. Methodist won its second straight national title with a 1175 (+23) with Illinois Wesleyan taking second at 1180 (+28).

Sophomore Kevin Mu's hunt for the individual crown ended on Friday as he notched par on his four remaining holes to end the fourth round with a team-best one-under 71 and finished in sole possession of third place and was one of three players to shoot under par for the Championships. His 282 (-6) score across the four rounds represented a new program record for four-round tournaments and earned him a spot on the PING/GCAA All-America First Team as was announced at the conclusion of the tournament.

The Eagles had two players also finish inside the top-50 with junior Brian Hanson placing 40th overall and senior Michael Burry taking the 49th position. Hanson ended the tournament with a 300 following his third and fourth rounds of 72 and 73. For Burry, he posted back-to-back scorecards reading 74 to finish with a four-day total of 302.

After shooting the second-best mark on the team with a 70 during round three, senior Tony Li concluded his final tournament with a 76 in the final round to give him 303 for the week as he placed 52nd overall.

Senior Josh Qian, who was the only Eagle to complete both final rounds on Thursday, ended his Eagle career with 309 across the four days to end in a tie for 73rd place.
