The Emory University men's golf team will be one of 18 schools remaining at the 2025 NCAA Championships as the Eagles made the cut following the second round Wednesday afternoon in Penfield, New York.
After being positioned 13th after the first round of competition on Tuesday on the Cobblestone Creek CC course, the Eagles were at Midvale Country Club for the second round and was able to move inside the top-10 at the day's conclusion.
At the halfway mark, Emory is 10 strokes off the lead with a two-day total of 605 (+29) with Illinois Wesleyan University holding down the top spot with a score of 595 (+19). All 18 teams still in the hunt are separated by just 16 shots.
Sophomore Kevin Mu maintained his position at the top of the individual leaderboard as he holds down sole possession of third place with a two-day scorecard reading 142 and is one of three players under par during the tournament. Mu recorded a one-over 73 on Wednesday to lead the Eagles with his round featuring one eagle on the 10th hole, four birdies and seven pars. With two days remaining, Mu is three shots behind the individual leader out of Bethel, Will Karkoc.
Senior Michael Burry jumped up 38 spots on the leaderboard as he fired a second round score of 76 and is shooting a 10-over 154 over his first two rounds. Burry had three birdies and eight pars on the greens of Midvale.
Another big mover on Wednesday was junior Brian Hanson as he cracked the top 100 individually with his five-over 77 in the second round and will carry a two-day total of 155 into Thursday. Hanson recorded three birdies and mixed in eight pars.
Seniors Tony Li and Josh Qian finished the afternoon with scores of 79 and 83 respectfully to close out the Emory scorecard. Li tacked on one more stroke to his ledger after shooting a 78 on Tuesday as he had a team-leading 11 pars to go along with one birdie. For Qian, his day at Midvale consisted of eight pars and one birdie after starting the shot gun on hole 18.
The Eagles will look to climb the leaderboard once again on Thursday as action returns to Cobblestone Creek.
