The Emory University women's golf program continues to hold the top spot at the NCAA Championships following the third round of competition. The tournament is being played at the 72 par, 5,820 yard River Course at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Eagles sit in first place with a team score of 875 (+11) after shooting a 289 (+1) on Thursday afternoon in the third round. The Eagles hold a 13-stroke lead over Carnegie Mellon in second place and a 20-stroke lead over Middlebury in third.
Continuing to lead the charge for Emory is sophomore
Carys Code who sits in a tie for first place on in the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 214 (-2). On Thursday, she shot a 70 (-2) with three birdies and 14 pars on the day. Code is currently in a tie with Alison Takamiya from George Fox with both holding a two-stroke lead over second place.
Following Code is freshman
Zimo Li who currently holds down sixth place with a total score of 218 (+2) following the third round. After shooting par through the first two rounds, she struggled through the front nine with three bogeys and two birdies before bouncing back with eight pars on the back nine to finish round three with a score of 74 (+2).
Staying steady in a tie for ninth individually is sophomore
Esther Jung who holds a three-round score of 220 (+4). She shot for par on the front nine to start the day with three birdies and three bogeys before shooting a 37 (+2) on the back nine to finish Thursday with a 74 (+2).
Shooting her best round of the tournament was senior
Sharon Mun who sits in a tie for 37
th individually following the conclusion of round three with a score of 226 (+10). She shot two-over on the front nine before dominating the back nine with seven pars and two birdies for a third round score of 72 (E).
Finishing things for the Eagles with one of her best rounds in the tournament was fellow senior
Ellen Dong who shot a 73 (+1) on Thursday. She shot the most pars of any Eagle in the third round with 15 with a birdie on the back nine. Dong will enter the final round on Friday in a tie for 43
rd with a three-round score of 227 (+11).
The Eagles will finish competition at the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 16 with Emory's first tee time at 10:40 AM.
