The Emory University women's golf program opened tournament play this weekend at the NCAA Fall Preview in Palm Desert, California on the Firecliff Course at Desert Willow.
The Eagles shot 285 (-3) on Saturday and holds down second place behind the Carnegie Mellon Tartans who shot 281 (-7). Fellow UAA opponent NYU currently sits in third with a 288 (E).
Sophomore
Zimo Li wasted no time getting back into the swing of things shooting a 69 (-3) in the opening round. She shot three under on the front nine before finishing with nine pars on the back nine to finish in first individually.
Finishing behind her for the Eagles was
Xinyi Zheng who finished sixth individually on Saturday. She shot 70 (-2) with three birdies on the front nine and a birdie on the back nine to finish the day.
Junior
Carys Code and sophomore
Covi Yan both finished in a tie for 19th shooting 73 (+1) on the day. Code shot two birdies on the front nine and a birdie on the back while Yan shot one on the front and three on the back nine.
Junior
Esther Jung was the final Eagle competing for the team and currently sits in 33
rd after shooting 75 (+3) in the first round. She struggled on the front nine with three bogeys but finished strong on the back nine with six pars and a birdie.
Freshman
Jida Chiravachradej competed as an individual and finished in 27
th with a 74 (+2). She shot four pars and two birdies on the front nine and finished the back nine with five pars and two birdies.
The Eagles will compete in the second round of the NCAA Fall Preview tomorrow, September 14.
