Emory University women's golf standout Amanda Zheng has been recognized as the Women's Golf Coaches Association's Division III National Freshman of the Year as the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
The award adds to the long list of accolades for Zheng during her dynamite debut season as she previously earned WGCA All-America First Team, WGCA All-Region for the Southeast and WGCA All-Freshman Team honors, as well as All-University Athletic Association First Team and UAA Rookie of the Year recognition.
The Beijing, China native finished her rookie campaign ranked No. 2 nationally in the final edition of the Clippd rankings while averaging 70.4 across her 28 rounds. Zheng put forth individual medalist performances at the Historic Triangle Invitational, Jekyll Island Collegiate and the Deb Jackson Invitational while adding four other top-10 individual efforts. She placed inside the top 21 in all nine of her tournament appearances and went 2-0-1 during UAA match play at the start of the year. Her final showing came during the NCAA Championships where she finished tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard in the field of 176 golfers to lead the Eagles to their second straight national title.
Zheng becomes the third Emory Eagle to earn the honor in program history, joining Sharon Mun (2022) and Zimo Li (2025).
