Women's Golf Lands Three on All-UAA First Team; Li & Zheng Claim Top Honors

The Emory University women's golf team saw three representatives earn University Athletic Association recognition Tuesday afternoon as the UAA announced its All-Association Teams.

The Eagles claimed two of the three major year-end awards with sophomore Zimo Li being selected as the UAA Player of the Year and freshman Amanda Zheng chosen as the league's Rookie of the Year. In addition, both Eagles landed spots on the All-UAA First Team where they were joined by junior Carys Code.

Zi becomes the first player in Emory women's golf history to take home Player of the Year honors after securing Rookie of the Year honors last year. As a sophomore, Li had a dominating campaign in which she captured WGCA Division III National Player of the Year honors as well as All-America First Team acclaim. She was ranked No. 1 nationally for most of the spring season and finished inside the top-10 individually in each of her 10 tournament appearances including medalist honors at the Space Coast Classic in a field comprised of Division I competition. She added five additional top-five showings and was seventh at the NCAA Championships.

For Zheng, she becomes the second freshman to earn Rookie of the Year honors as she follows Li for the honor. In her debut season with the Eagles, Zheng ranked No. 2 nationally in the final edition of the Clippd rankings behind Li while averaging 70.4 across her 28 rounds. Zheng had seven top-10 efforts including three medalist honors at the Historic Triangle Invitational, Jekyll Island Collegiate and the Deb Jackson Invitational and tied with Li for seventh place at the NCAA Championships. She added WGCA All-America and All-Region accolades as well as All-Freshman Team honors.

For Code, this marks her third straight appearance on the All-UAA teams including her second consecutive berth on the First Team. Code's junior campaign saw her rank No. 4 nationally as an individual while shooting at a 71.0 per round clip across 28 rounds. Code had six showings inside the top-10 individually including medalist honors at the Hollins Cup. She joined Li and Zheng on the WGCA All-America First Team and finished inside the top-10 at the NCAA Championships where she placed ninth overall.

Led by the dynamic trio, the Eagles captured their second straight national championship as well as the program's third over the past five years. Emory established a new NCAA championship four-round record en route to besting UAA-foe Carnegie Mellon by seven strokes. In addition to the national title, the Eagles won three team tournaments over the course of the season.
