The Emory women's golf program opened the 2025-26 season on Monday morning at the UAA Championships hosted by University of Rochester in Batavia, Ohio.
The Eagles entered the tournament ranked No. 1 in the country following the National Championship title last season. Emory faced the New York University Violets in the first matchup and the Carnegie Mellon Tartans in match two. The tournament this season will be played in round robin format with the team boasting the best record at the end of the tournament declared the winner.
Match 1: NYU 5.5, Emory 0.5
The Eagles struggled in the first matchup of the day to the Violets falling 5.5-0.5 in the opening round of the championships. Teeing off first for Emory was junior
Carys Code who is coming off of an individual national championship. She opened strong on the front nine keeping toe-to-toe until struggling on the back nine falling 4&3.
Finishing next for Emory was sophomore
Covi Yan who finished with a 6&4 line followed by a close 2&1 finish from classmate
Zimo Li in the third match of the morning. Freshman
Xinyi Zheng had a strong showing in her first match as an Eagle falling to a 3UP score on the front nine to start. She jumped back in on the final nine holes to end in a tie in match four.

Gloria Nip started strong on the front nine in her first competition with Emory claiming the lead early before falling with a 4&3 line. Junior
Esther Jung finished the day for the Eagles fighting a strong battle through all 18 holes before falling with a 1UP line.
Match 2: CMU 3, Emory 3
The Eagles had a tough battle in the second match of the day against the No. 2 ranked Tartans. Yan opened strong going 3UP quickly on the first nine holes and finished her match first with a 4&3 line. Classmate Li finished second going back and forth with her opponent until falling with a 2&1 score.
Code had a better showing in the second match holding the lead through the first nine holes. Her opponent was able to catch up in the last three holes to reclaim the advantage before clinching with a 1UP line. Jung competed in the fourth spot against CMU falling 3&1 in her matchup.
The freshman duo of Nip and Zheng both took their matches versus the Tartans with Nip finishing first with a 2&1 line and Zheng clinching her match with a 1UP score.
The Eagles will face off with the WashU Bears on Tuesday, September 9 with the first tee time set for 9:00 AM in Batavia, Ohio.
