The Emory University women's golf program took home a second place finish at the NCAA Fall Preview in Palm Desert, California with the tournament being played on the Firecliff Course.
The Eagles finished in second after shooting a 573 (-3) across two rounds of competition with a 288 (E) coming on Sunday afternoon. UAA opponents Carnegie Mellon and NYU finished in first and third respectively.
Freshman
Amanda Zheng dominated her first tournament-style competition with the Eagles finishing in fifth place individually with a 141 (-3) in two rounds. She finished today with three birdies on the front nine and eight pars on the back nine for a 71 (-1) in round two.
Following right behind her was sophomore
Zimo Li who finished in sixth on Sunday afternoon with a 142 (-2). Li had shot a 69 (-3) on Saturday afternoon and finished with a 73 (+1) on Sunday. She struggled through the first nine holes but finished strong on the back nine shooting two birdies and seven pars.
Junior
Carys Code had one of the biggest jumps on the leaderboard from the Eagles shooting a 70 (-2) in round two on Sunday for a 143 (-1) finish across the two rounds. She posted two birdies on the front and back nine to secure an eighth place finish individually. Fellow junior
Esther Jung also moved up the leaderboard on Sunday shooting a 149 (+5), a 74 (+2) on Sunday, to finish in 27
th individually.
Finishing in a tie for 33
rd individually were sophomore
Covi Yan and
Jida Chiravachradej who both finished with a 151 (+7) across two rounds for a 33
rd place finish.
Next up, the Eagles will travel to Farmington, Pennsylvania to compete at the two-day Tartan Invitational beginning on Monday, October 6.
