The Emory University women's golf program completed their second round at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday afternoon and were one of just a few teams to finish before lightning delayed the tournament once again. The course is being played on the 72 par, 5,820 yard River Course at the Kingsmill Resort.
The Eagles moved to the top spot shooting the best round in the tournament so far with a 287 (-1) on Wednesday. Though not all teams finished, Emory currently holds a seven-stroke lead over Middlebury who holds down the number two spot.
Dominating the competition on Wednesday afternoon was freshman
Zimo Li who shot a 69 (-3) with just one bogey and four birdies, all coming on the back nine. She currently sits in a tie for first on the individual leaderboard with a 144 (E) score through two rounds.
Also in a tie for first at the end of Wednesday was sophomore
Carys Code who shot a 71 (-1) in the second round to move into a tie at the top of the leaderboard. She shot two birdies through the round and notched an eagle on the 12
th hole.
Moving her way up following the second round was fellow sophomore
Esther Jung who shot for par on Wednesday for a total score of 146 (+2). After starting the day with a double bogey on hole one, Jung bounced back and finished the day with 15 pars and two birdies for a 72 (E) during the second round.
Finishing out the day for the Eagles were seniors
Sharon Mun and
Ellen Dong who both sit in a tie for 60
th following competition on Wednesday. Mun shot a 75 (+3) during the second round including three birdies on the back nine for a 154 (+10) overall score. Dong also holds a score of 154 (+10) after shooting a 77 (+5) on Wednesday ending the front nine with two birdies of her own.
