The No. 2 ranked Emory University women's golf program took home the title at the Deb Jackson Invitational on Monday afternoon after posting the round's best score. The tournament was played at the West Pines Golf Course in Douglasville, Georgia.
The A team finished in first with a total score of 582 (+14) after shooting a 292 (+8) in the second round on Monday. After a playoff hole, Oklahoma City took second with a 592 (+24) while Carnegie Mellon finished behind them with a 592 (+24). Emory's B team clinched fifth place with a 612 (+44) shooting four strokes under Sunday's total.
Senior
Ellen Dong dominated the competition this weekend to finish in second place. After shooting a 72 (+1) on Sunday, she matched her score on Monday for a total score of 144 (+2). She opened the second round with a birdie before totaling two more in the round as well as 11 pars. Teammates
Zimo Li and
Sharon Mun both followed behind shooting a 146 (+4) in the tournament to finish in a tie for fifth place. Li shot her best round on Monday with a 72 (+1).
Sophomore
Carys Code ended the tournament in a tie for 10
th place with a score 149 (+7) following the second round on Monday. She matched Dong with 11 total pars and a birdie on the front nine. Freshman
Covi Yan finished things for the A team with an 18
th place finish also shooting her best round on Monday. She opened the front nine with two birdies and finished the last nine holes with eight pars.
For the B team, freshman
Angelina Zhang dominated the second round finishing with a 72 (+1) for a total score of 147 (+5). She shot two over on the front nine before finishing one under on the back nine with an eagle to secure her seventh place finish. Following right behind her was sophomore
Esther Jung who shot for par on Monday to finish ninth overall. She totaled 14 pars and two birdies in round to for a total score of 148 (+6).
Junior
Katie Park had the net best finish for the Eagles taking 26
th with a total score of 155 (+13). She shot a 79 (+8) on Monday after shooting nine pars on the day followed by a 34
th place finish from sophomore
Derica Chiu who finished the tournament with a 163 (+21). Rounding out the competition was senior
Heejo Hyun who notched a total score of 165 (+23) for a 38
th place finish. After shooting four pars on the front nine, she recorded a par and two birdies on the back nine to close the competition.
The Eagles will take a break in competition before heading to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete at the NCAA National Championships beginning on May 13.
