The No. 3 ranked Emory University women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Sunday with an afternoon sweep of University Athletic Association foe No. 17 Case Western Reserve in Atlanta. Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles recognized senior captain Eliza McPherron with a special on-court ceremony.
McPherron opened her day by teaming with sophomore Yanire Marte for the day's first win as the duo posted a 6-2Â win on court three en route to the Eagles winning the doubles point. The win helped the tandem improve to a team-best 13-1 this spring.
On court two, the duo of juniors Izzy Antanavicius and Iris Berman followed with a 6-3 decision to clinch the doubles point for the Eagles. With the win, they move to 9-0 at the No. 2 position this spring and are a team-best 18-4 this season.
Emory continued the momentum into singles action as the Eagles notched wins on all six courts to complete the Senior Day sweep.
Junior Emily Kantrovitz was the first to reach a conclusion with her straight set, 6-4, 6-2 decision at the top spot. McPherron rounded out her strong afternoon by recording a 6-2, 6-3 result on court four to push the Eagles to brink of a clinch.
Graduate student Dakota Fordham came through with the match clincher on court five with her 6-3, 6-1 line.
