#2 Women’s Golf in Fifth Following Opening Round of Max and Susan Stith Invitational

The Emory University women's golf program opened the first round of the annual Max and Susan Stith Invitational on Monday morning. The tournament is being played at the Dominion Club, a 72 par, 5,646 yard course in Glen Allen, Virginia.
 
The No. 2 ranked Eagles finished in fifth place after the first day of the tournament with a team score of 305 (+17). The top-ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans currently sit in first place with a team score of 291 (+3). NYU and Centre round out the top three.  
 
Leading the way for the Eagles on day one was freshman Zimo Li who continues her impressive rookie season. She started on the back nine with three birdies and four par for a 35 (-1) before finishing the front nine with a 38 (+2). Li will begin the second round on Tuesday in a tie for fifth place with a score of 73 (+1).
 
Following behind her was senior Sharon Mun with a score of 75 (+3) after round one. She recorded two birdies and five par on the back nine to begin the day with a 37 (+1)before adding two more pars to her total on the front nine to finish three over. Mun will start Tuesday in a tie for 13th with her score of 75.
 
Fellow senior Ellen Dong had the next best score for Emory on Monday morning shooting the best front nine score for the Eagles. After struggling on the back nine with a score of 40 (+4), she notched a birdie and six pars on the front nine for a 37 (+1). Dong currently sits in a tie for 25th individually with a score of 77 (+5).
 
Sophomore Carys Code was the final Eagle to record a score in the first round finishing in a tie for 39th with a score of 80 (+8). She totaled 11 pars on the day, including seven on the front nine to finish the day, after opening the day with a 42 (+6) on the back nine.
 
Also recording 11 pars on the day was sophomore Esther Jung who finished just one stroke behind Code. She opened the first round with six pars before finishing on the front nine with five par. Jung will open the second round of the tournament on Tuesday in a tie for 44th with a score of 81 (+9).
 
The Eagles will conclude the Max and Susan Stith Invitational on Tuesday, March 31 with the second round of competition.
