The No. 2 ranked Emory women's golf team kept its spring season going this weekend, competing in the Valspar Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Georgia. The Eagles made the trip to north Georgia as the only Division III team in the field, taking on 11 Division I programs as well as Division II institution Augusta University, who also hosted the event. The event got started with two rounds on Saturday, taking place at the Forest Hills Club's 6,201-yard, Par-72 course. After 36 holes, the Eagles find themselves in 11th out of 13 teams with a score of 618 (+42).

Georgia Southern leads the pack after shooting a stellar 582 (+6) over two rounds on Saturday. UCF is close behind in second at 585 (+9) while Michigan State rounds out the top three at 587 (+11). Those three have a comfortable cushion over the rest of the field, with fourth-place Furman 14 strokes behind Michigan State at 601 (+25). Rounding out the field is Texas Tech, Coastal Carolina, Yale, North Florida, South Florida, Michigan, Augusta, and Northern Illinois. The individual leader after two rounds is Texas Tech's Klara Hurtova, who was the only player to shoot under par in both of her rounds, turning in a 139 (-5) after two rounds.

Emory held its own against some of the nation's top competitors, having the fifth-best team score on Par 4s, shooting +34 as a collective. The Eagles were also towards the middle of the pack in total birdies, compiling 19 over their two rounds.

Emory's top performer was sophomore Derica Chiu, who finds herself tied for 29th entering the final round. The sophomore carded a 74 (+2) in her first round before finishing with a 79 (+7) to finish at 153 (+9) for the day. Her first round featured 10 pars, three birdies, and five bogeys. She found a bit more trouble in her second round, with eight bogeys and a double bogey to go with three birdies. Chiu is tied for tenth for most birdies at the event with six and was the only Eagle to be cumulatively under par across all Par 5s on Saturday. She'll enter her final round 14 strokes off the leader.

Fellow sophomore Carys Code was close behind Chiu, shooting a 154 (+10) during her two rounds on Saturday. Code shot a 77 (+5) in both rounds. Her first round featured seven bogeys and two birdies. She was even through nine holes to start her second round, but a pair of triple bogeys inflated her score. Code will enter Sunday tied for 31st.

Sophomore Esther Jung was also among the top competitors for the Eagles on Saturday, carding a two-round score of 156 (+12). Jung got out to a rocky start, finding herself five over par during her front nine. Yet a strong finish to her opening round where she shot one under saw her finish with a 76 (+4). She finished her second round with an 80 (+8) as she'll enter Sunday tied for 43rd.

Senior Sharon Mun was just a stroke behind Jung, carding a 157 (+13) over two rounds. Her second round got off to a near-perfect start, sitting at even through 13 holes. Four bogeys over her final five holes saw her score balloon to 76 (+4) to finish her day. Mun will enter the final round tied for 48th.

While Yan leads the team in pars, she did not record any birdies on her way to a score of 160 (+16) on Saturday. She shot an 82 (+10) in her first round before carding a 78 (+6) during her second.
