The dual meet portion of the schedule came to a close Saturday afternoon for the Emory University women's swimming & diving team as the Eagles competed against local foe, the University of Georgia, in Athens. The Eagles demonstrated some speed in the water against their Division I counterparts, lowering several times to season-best marks and saw one program record fall during the meet.
Freshman
Allison Greeneway continued to rewrite the Emory record books on Saturday as she broke the team record in the 200 IM for the third time this season. This time she dropped a time of 2:00.28 to place second in the event and eclipsed her previous top standard of 2:00.79 which she established at the Denison Invitational in the process.
To go along with Greeneway's showcase in the 200 IM, graduate student
Megan Jungers claimed the team's lone event win on the afternoon as she touched first in the 100 Backstroke with a season-best mark of 54.83. Greeneway finished second in the race as she posted a time of 55.49.
The duo swam alongside junior
Katie Cohen and freshman
Caitlin Crysel for one of Emory's top relay performances on the day as the group placed second in the 200 Medley Relay with a NCAA B Cut of 1:41.86 – one of three Eagles' NCAA cuts recorded in the event.
All told, the Eagles secured 19 NCAA B Cuts on Saturday.
Additionally, Crysel picked up a second place effort in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.58, as did freshman
Elodie Mitchell in the 200 Fly (2:00.84), freshman
Sophia Joos in the 200 Breaststroke (2:17.02) and sophomore
Katherine Swan in the 500 Freestyle (5:00.69).
Individually, the Eagles collected five third place finishes as well to boost their team score, coming from Cohen in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.70), senior
Sarah Daly in the 200 Fly (2:03.17), senior
Ariana Khan in the 3-meter dive (261.83), junior
Jane Sanderson in the 200 Backstroke (2:02.30) and sophomore

In the final event of the meet, the team of Crysel, Sanderson, junior

The Eagles now turn their attention to the University Athletic Association Championships which will be held February 12-15 in Atlanta.
