Peter T.C. Smith Honored as a CSCAA Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Inductee

Former Emory University Head Coach and Emory Athletics Hall of Famer, Peter T.C. Smith, was inducted into the College Swimming & Diving Coaches of America (CSCAA) Hall of Fame as the Class of 2025 induction class was announced earlier this week by the organization.

Smith served as the Eagles head coach for both the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams for 13 years from 1985-1998. During his tenure, Emory sustained a very high level of success as he coached the women's team to six UAA championships and saw the men finish as conference runners-up seven times. Smith coached a total of 143 All-American performances including 13 National Champion events. The Emory Women's team collected nine NCAA Division III Top Ten finishes and the Men finished ninth in 1991. he was named CSCAA Women's Division III Coach of the Year in 1992, and three of his student-athletes were the recipients of the prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship during his tenure.

Following his departure from coaching in 1998, he served as the Director of Athletics at Wesleyan College for four years and as the Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation at Kenyon College for an additional 15 years. Smith retired from Kenyon in 2017 and assumed a position with the U.S. Council for Athletes Health. He was inducted into the Emory Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
