Riley Miller & Owen Clark Secure First Career UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Two members of the Emory University soccer teams were recognized Monday after for their contributions this past weekend, leading their respective teams to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Senior Riley Miller played 156 out of a possible 180 minutes as the women's soccer team collected two shutouts in the NCAA opening rounds during wins over Belhaven and Rhodes. Miller and the Emory defense allowed just two total shots across the entirety of the weekend with both attempts coming from Belhaven on Saturday. On Sunday, Miller also played a part in Emory's second goal as the Eagles toppled Rhodes, 2-0, and outshot the Lynx 29-0.

Senior Owen Clark scored one goal and added an assist as the men's soccer team won their opening round matches to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16. On Saturday, Clark broke a 1-1 tie with his second half goal as the Eagles went on to defeat Maryville, 3-1. On Sunday, Clark added an assist on the team's second goal as Emory defeated Hampden-Sydney, 3-0, to advance.

Both programs will return to action on Saturday, November 22nd in Round of 16 contests. The women's team will face John Hopkins University at 11:00 AM in Lexington, Virginia on the campus of Washington & Lee University. The men will also travel to Virginia, going to the University of Lynchburg and will face Rowan University at 3:30 PM on Saturday.
