Emory University divers kicked off their 2025-26 season this past weekend in Moultrie, Georgia as the Eagles competed against members of Sewanee, West Florida and Georgia Southern at the West Florida Invitational.
The competition took place across Saturday and Sunday with divers from all four schools competing in a multitude of events.
Saturday afternoon saw the Eagles showcase their training on both boards. For the women, Maddi Grant highlighted four Eagles on the 1-meter board as she placed second in the field with a score of 388.15. Graduate student Ariana Khan came in third on the day at 379.90 while Maya Kriz (354.40) and senior Ren Watt (3.08.85) rounding out the Eagles inside the top eight with sixth and eighth place showings.
For the men, sophomore Solly Berkenwald and freshman Thomas Stone led the small field with Berkenwald scoring 474.90 in the 1-meter across 1 dives, ahead of Stone's 416.50. The duo also took to the 3-meter with Berkenwald turning in a score of 331.75 to top the five-diver table. Stone recorded 244.00 points while fellow newcomer Gavin Zivitz registered 172.15 across six dives.
Khan led the Emory women on Sunday with her team best 230.30 over six dives on the 3-meter board, taking second out of 16 divers. Kriz finished behind her in third place with a score of 227.20.
Watt and Grant added top nine efforts with Watt scoring 209.65 in finish seventh and Grant placing ninth after notching 194.20.
Berkenwald and Stone showcased the men's divers on the final day with the Emory duo earning the top spots in the 1-meter, 6-dive event. Berkenwald scored 291.85 across his six dives while Stone scored 255.45.
The Eagles will join their swimming teammates next weekend for dual meet action inside the WoodPEC as Emory hosts Georgia Tech on Saturday, October 11 starting at 11:00 AM.
