Emory Cross Country divided and conquered Friday morning as the teams took on the Georgia Tech Invitational in Fairburn, GA and the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, PA.
At the Paul Short Run, the Eagles showed out as the women took 6
th and the men took 16
th overall in a crowded field of 45 teams and over 400 runners.
In the women's 6k, junior
Cameron Gupta led the pack finishing in 38
th place with her time of 22:03. Close behind her was sophomore
Davis Johnson, who also came in at 22:08 and found herself in 43
rd place. Only a few seconds behind was freshman
Ashley Clyman who rolled in at 22:11 and came in 46
th place. Behind her was the freshman/senior duo of
Ayla Cooke and
Madison Tiaffay, who came in a tenth of a second apart at 22:19.8 and 22:19.9, finding themselves in 54
th and 55
th place. Following them was junior
Elizabeth Csikai who clocked in at 22:29 and came in 68
th. Right behind her was fellow junior
Payton Fleming, who came in at 22:31 and found herself in 71
st place. Closing out the race for the Eagles was junior
Elise Picard who came in 94
th place with a time of 22:44.Â
In the men's 8k, sophomore
Ryan Van De Berghe led the way for the Eagles finishing in 29
th place at 25:05. Shortly after him was junior
John Urciuoli who clocked in at 25:13 and came in 43
rd. Rolling in behind him was fellow junior
Kirin Karver, who ran in at the 25:50 mark and came in 108
th. Freshman
Owen Larson quickly followed suit, coming in at 25:57 and finding himself in 126
th. Behind Larson was sophomore
Carsen Valenta, who came in 157
th with his time of 26:17. Fellow freshman
Logan Clark was close behind, clocking in at 26:20 and coming in 166
th. Finishing things off for the Eagles was sophomore
Dalton Lowery, coming in 190
th place with his time of 26:29.
At the Georgia Tech Invitational, both squads had a great showing, placing 4
th and 6
th respectively out of 14 teams.
On the women's side, freshman
Maddie Chen led the team finishing at 23:05 and landing in 36
th place. Following her was the rookie duo of
Lucy Ambrogio and
Ines Lemee, who crossed the finish line right after the 23-minute mark finishing in 40
th and 46
th respectively. Behind them was junior
Morgan Cox who came in 54
th  clocking in at 23:46 and beating her time of 25:24 from last year's GT Invitational. Close behind her was the sophomore/freshman combo of
Arden Gray and
Zoe Dichter who both came in after the 24-minute mark and took 67
th and 72
nd place respectively. Closing things out on the women's side was junior
Emma Flowers who crossed the finish line at 25:03 to take 87
th.
On the men's side, freshman
Michael Versaci led the Eagles, coming in 27
th and clocking in at 26:03. Shortly after was the freshman duo of
Amos Pres and
Zach Glover, who also clocked in just after the 26-minute mark and came in 30
th and 32
nd respectively. Following them was upperclassmen
Olin Gilster and
Jack Mulhauser, who both crossed the finish line after the 26:20 mark and came in 35
th and 37
th. Close behind was the senior/freshman duo of
Nikhil Makker and
Owen Brandeis who both came in around the 26:50 mark and placed 44
th and 45
th respectively. Following them in was senior
Lucas Moskovitz, who ran in after the 27-minute mark and came in 52
nd place. Rounding things out for the Eagles was freshman
Shane Larkin, who clocked in at 27:25 and came in 55
th place.
The Eagles will take a one-week break before returning to the course on October 17
th and 18
th for another dual meet weekend, where half the squad will attend the UT-Chattanooga Intercollegiate in Chattanooga, TN on the 17
th and the other half will be in Logan Township, NJ for the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle.
