Emory's mens and womens cross country teams concluded their season at the NCAA Division III National Championships Saturday morning in Spartanburg, SC. The womens team took 18
th place in a field of 32 teams while
John Urciuoli and
Ryan Van de Berghe came in 122
nd and 156
th respectively on the mens side.
Leading the women's team was junior
Elizabeth Csikai who came in 96
th overall with a time of 22:46.4 to conclude her junior campaign, improving from her time of 24:06.0 at last years National Championship. Close behind her was fellow junior
Madison Tiaffay who came in 99
th place with a time of 22:47.8. Coming in after Tiaffay was the freshman duo of
Ayla Cooke and
Ashley Clyman, who both came in at 23:09.0 to come in 146
th and 147
th respectively. Sophomore
Davis Johnson crossed the finish next, coming in 167
th place with a time of 23:17.6. Behind her was junior
Cameron Gupta who came in at 23:22.2 and coming in 184
th place. Rounding things out for the Eagles was junior
Payton Fleming who crossed the finish at 23:40.2 to find herself in 216
th place.
With the cross country season coming to a close, Emory track and field will begin their indor season on December 5 at the Birmingham Indoor Icebreaker.
