The Emory men's and women's cross country teams raced in the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday morning, with the women's team taking fourth place with 132 points and the men earning seventh place with 200 points against Division I competition.
The rest of the team was set to compete at the Paul Short Run which was cancelled due to weather.
Payton Fleming led the women's team with a 22nd place finish at 22:15.4 and sophomore
Zach Glover led the men with a time of 25:58.1 to take 45th.
Freshman
Alexis Wilson followed Fleming on the women's side, taking 33rd with a time of 22:44.8. Her classmates
Mackenzie Spooner and
Abby Weinstein came in behind her, placing 38th and 42nd with times over the 23 minute mark. Freshmen
Isabella Schott,
Anya Budzinski and
Bennie Bonadeis all finished after Weinstein, coming in after the 23:20 mark to take 47th, 56th and 64th respectively. Sophomore
Ella Werkman came in next, crossing the finish at 23:58.4 to take 75th.
Julia Ronnen finished next at 24:22.6 to come in 84th while sophomore
Adeline Edwards came in 18 seconds later to finish in 91st. Rounding out the Eagles in the top 100 was junior
Arden Gray who crossed the finish at 24:52.5 to come in 95th place.
On the men's side, sophomore
Shane Larkin came in two seconds after Glover to take 49th place. Freshman
Ayaan Surani finished next to place 52nd with a time of 26:16.0. Behind him was the sophomore duo of
Logan Clark and
Jack Muhlhauser who came in after the 26:30 mark to finish in 62nd adn 64th respectively. Freshman
Humberto Serna finished next with a time of 26:39 to tak 68th while his classmate
Charlie Rich wrapped it up for the Eagles with his 73rd place finish at 26:45.3.
The Eagles will be back on the course October 17 as the teams take on the Berry College Invitational and the Rowan Border Battle.
