Men's Golf concluded play at the Tartan Invitational Tuesday afternoon, finishing in fifth place with a team score of 899 across the three rounds. This is the third top five finish for the Eagles on the season.
Graduate transfer
Pearse Lucas led the Eagles, finishing in fourth place on the leaderboard with a final score of 220 for the tournament. Lucas was really consistent in his final round, only shooting four bogeys and two birdies across all 18 holes to shoot a 74 in his final round.
Following him was junior
Kevin Mu, who shot 225 on the tournament and 78 on the day to find himself in 19
th place. Mu had a difficult start to the third round, carding three bogeys, two double bogeys and a birdie on the front nine. The junior recovered on the back nine, carding two bogeys and back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 to end his round on a high note.
Close behind Mu was sophomore
Zach Pelzar, shooting 79 on the day to end in 34
th place with a total of 229 for the tournament. Pelzar carded three bogeys and a double bogey on the first four holes, but he recovered and carded a birdie on the sixth hole while making par on the rest of the front nine. On the back nine, the sophomore carded three birdies, a bogey and two double bogeys to finish his final round.
Behind him was junior
Brady Lagendyk, who concluded round three with a score of 232 across the three rounds to sit in 50
th place. Lagendyk had a consistent final round, making par on each of the front nine holes apart from carding a birdie, bogey and a double bogey. This consistency continued on the back nine, making par on each hole apart from his four bogeys to shoot a 78 in his final round.
Closing things out for the Eagles was senior
Brian Hanson, who shot 80 in his final round to end the tournament in 56
th place with 233. Hanson opened his final round with three bogeys in a row and closed out the front nine with a bogey and double bogey on eight and nine, but he concluded the back nine with three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey to end his round.
The Eagles will be back on the course next week as they head up the road to Rome, GA for the Chick-fil-A Invitational on Monday, October 20.
